Samsung Nexus S

Samsung’s Nexus S was the first Android Phone with NFC technology and released in December 2010. The device is equipped with a NXP PN65 in order to offer NFC functionality from the hardware side. In first firmware releases (2.3 – 2.3.4) did only support reader/writer mode and no tag emulation. The devices can provide an internal secure element (embedded in the PN65) as well as the UICC as the secure element using SWP. Today the card emulation functionality is not officially available for the phone. But there is the possibility to enable the SWP support by modifying the firmware. On the other hand Google has already announced Google Wallet, which makes use of the embedded secure element.
