Barclays Pingit: your mobile number is your bank account

Already in Februray UK’s Barclaysbank introduce a service called Pingit. The concept behind this service is easily explained: Barcelay make a bank account out of your mobile phone number. After signing up you can used a mobile app or sms to send money to the MSISDN of another Barcleay customer. Barclay claims that in the first 3 month more that 10 Mio. GBP have been transferred using the service.

Nokia presents NFC Wallet and Windows 8 Proximity API

Today Nokia gave the first presentation on the NFC API for the new Windows 8 devices as well as their native wallet. The new Nokia 820 and the Nokia 920 already come with the new operating system, the Nokia Wallet and provides NFC functionality. Unlikely the Nokia 610 (WP 7.5) the new device come with a completely new integration as well as SWP functionality for card emulation.
Cutting edge mobile app for Easybank and BAWAG/PSK

Austria’s largest direct bank easybank and BAWAG/PSK launched their mobile banking apps for Android and iOS today. Both apps come with a sophisticated user interfaces as well as all neccessary banking features required by the customer. The apps have a playful approach in order to lift mobile banking experience to a next level.

NFC Geldkarte – broken by design?

The Union of German’s Sparkassen (Deutsche Sparkassen- und Giroverband; DSGV) currently is in the middle of huge NFC project. The plan is to start rolling out 45 Mio. NFC enabled bankcards to customers in mid 2012.

Nokia launches NFC SDK for Qt

Nokia just announced its Qt SDK with NFC support. Nokia is introducing NFC technology to a growing range of Symbian phones and the Nokia N9 smartphone. With support for development using Qt, Java ME, and Symbian C++ APIs, it’s easy to add NFC capabilities to an application. In the documentation it is shown how to make use of Nokia’s OpenNFC API.

Most successful m-commce service goes Android & iPhone

Since today one of the most popular mobile services in Austria has its own app: HandyParken. HandyParken allows the user to buy parking tickets simply by sending short messages. The app in this case provides a convenient user interface and a visualization of the different options of parking tickets that can be bought per city. This makes the system even easier to use.
HandyParken is available in Android Market as well as the Apple App-Store. The App was desigend, developed and integrated by RISE.
