Nokia’s C7 finally receives NFC support through the firmware with the Codename ‘Anna’. Still the phone does not support card emulation. Users have already been able to test the NFC functionality of Nokia C7 at MWC in Barcelona or WIMA in Monaco. Applications like Angry Birds make already use of the NFC features of the Nokia platform.
Nokia promotes their idea of “Open NFC” where the mobile phone is only used for tag reading and NFC peer-2-peer applications. But still, there is the possibility, that the C7 will be enabled for the use of the SIM card as the secure element. This is due to that fact, that the C7 is equipped with PN544 supporting the single wire protocol.
